In the video recorded Aug. 30 during a test flight at Kirtland Air Force Base, N.M., the laser melts the hood and sparks a fire. A press statement from Boeing said the laser “killed the vehicle.”

The weapon uses a chemical laser that fills the cargo hold of C-130 to produce a laser beam fired from a turret mounted in the belly of a C-130.

If the size of laser can be reduced, the Air Force could one day fly laser versions of the AC-130 gunships.

The future of the project is in doubt as it competes for funding with other weapons, but a Boeing official said he is optimistic.

“The bottom line is that ATL works, and works very well,” Gary Fitzmire, program director of Boeing Missile Defense Systems’ Directed Energy Systems unit, said in a release. “ATL’s components — the high-energy chemical laser, beam control system and battle manager — are performing as one integrated weapon system, delivering effective laser beam energy to ground targets.”

Working with Boeing on the $200 million project, which began in 2002, is the Air Force Research Lab’s Directed Energy Directorate.

Ontario is equipped to deploy the vaccine quickly, but the province can’t get it until Health Canada issues a licence to the manufacturer, Caplan said.

Production of the vaccine by GlaxoSmithKline in Ste-Foy, Que., is largely complete, he said.

The federal government wants to make sure the flu shots are safe and effective and, as a result, Caplan said it could take three weeks just to get the necessary approvals in place.

This news comes despite a plethora of evidence suggesting trials, that were just initiated a few months ago, have no conclusive evidence of safety and efficacy.

According to infectious disease experts, due to delayed and potentially serious side effects, such as paralysis and neurological disorders, the timelines for effective safety testing on adjuvanted vaccines should span years from initial clinical trials.

Just over a month ago, a Canadian health expert called for compensation for flu-vaccine injuries. This and other initiatives by health protection advocates prompted the government of Canada to enact protection measures for vaccine maker GlaxoSmithKline and shield them from all lawsuits. Health practitioners including all Physicians will not be included in this measure.

“I’m urging the federal government to show some leadership and, as we’re seeing in the United States, expedite the approval process so that we can get (the vaccine) deployed as quickly as we possibly can,” he said.

“But unfortunately, that’s beyond the control of provincial governments.”

It may already be too late to prevent the spread of the virus in the general population, said one expert.

“Ideally, the vaccine would have been available in September,” said Kumanan Wilson, Canada research chair in public health policy at the Ottawa Hospital Research Institute.

Accelerating the approval process may actually deter people from rolling up their sleeves for a swine-flu shot over fears that it isn’t safe, he said.

“Just having the vaccine available isn’t going to be enough if nobody’s going to take it,” he said.

The LRAD devices used against protesters and the residents of Pittsburgh last month were a beta test for things to come. As reported by the Washington Times on October 1, the Department of Homeland Security is doling out federal money to get police departments around the country stocked up on the LRAD weapons.

“With the help of Homeland Security grants, police departments nationwide looking to subdue unruly crowds and political protesters are purchasing a high-tech device originally used by the military to repel battlefield insurgents and Somali pirates with piercing noise capable of damaging hearing,” write Jerry Seper and Chuck Neubauer.

Cops use LRAD against people in Pittsburgh for the crime of assembly.

According to San Diego-based American Technology Corp., the company that makes the devices, LRADs are not weapons. American Technology insists LRADs are to be used in order to “influence the behavior and gain compliance” from people.

“It is designed to get people to do what police want. It makes them uncomfortable but does not hurt them,” he said Raymond DeMichiei, Pittsburgh’s deputy director of emergency management and homeland security.

In other words, as was the case in Pittsburgh, LRADs will be used prevent people from engaging in the First Amendment and the right to peacefully assembly and protest government policies.

American Technology stated in a Securities and Exchange Commission filing in September 2008 that the device is “capable of sufficient acoustic output to cause damage to human hearing or human health,” expressing concern that its misuse could lead to lawsuits. It is said the decibel range of the LRAD used in Pittsburgh was similar to standing next to an exploding IED.

“The association said that at 130 to 140 decibels, damage to the ear can be instantaneous, adding that the 145 to 151 range of the LRADS is ‘the kind of sound that can cause tinnitus and hearing damage immediately.’ Tinnitus is a condition that causes ringing in the ears, sometimes permanently,” the Times reports.

In 2006, The Discovery Channel described LRAD as a psychological weapon.

Trends forecaster Gerald Celente has an uncanny ability to predict the future. In 1987, he predicted the stock market crash and the fall of the Soviet Union. In November of last year he predicted revolution in America, food riots, tax rebellions, and angry people taking to the streets as the economy implodes and the nation is wracked by mass unemployment.

“America’s going to go through a transition the likes of which no one is prepared for,” said Celente.

It looks like the government will be prepared — to assault the desperate hordes that will gather and make demands on the government — and that is why the Department of Homeland Security is doling out wads of cash to militarized and federalized cops around the country for high-tech weapons.

Since that time, a handful of firms have reimbursed taxpayers for money they received under the program to the tune of about $70 billion, or 10 percent of what has been given out. The debate in Congress comes as the chief bureaucrat tasked with watching over TARP recently conceded during Senate testimony that taxpayers will most likely not be paid back for all of the money they gave Wall Street.
Speaking before the Senate Banking Committee on Sept. 25, Neil Barofsky, the special inspector general for TARP, said that it is “extremely unlikely that the taxpayer will see a full return on its TARP investment.”
By now, many policymakers inside the Beltway presume that Americans have forgotten how Bush’s Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson and Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke originally sold the massive payout by claiming that taxpayers would eventually reap “returns” on their “investment” in Wall Street.
Today, we’re being told that we should be happy that we will get back even some of that money. So now we know the truth about the TARP: It wasn’t enacted to protect the economy. It was created for the purpose of covering up the greatest theft of taxpayer dollars in the history of the United States.

The number of people with dementia will almost double every 20 years across the world, researchers predicted today.

British experts calculated figures for the number of people worldwide who will suffer dementia, including Alzheimer’s disease, in the future.

The fact people are living longer than ever before is a major factor driving the increasing incidence of dementia.

Today’s study estimates that the number of people with dementia and Alzheimer’s will almost double every 20 years worldwide, to 65.7 million in 2030 and 115.4 million in 2050.

A total of 35.6 million people will have dementia in 2010, the report said.

After recent reports that Canada’s public health officials are engaged in cover-up operations to conceal flu origin, there is now evidence and growing concerns and that all the warnings, dire predictions and preparations for the H1N1 swine flu are leading to mandatory vaccinations under the guise of “voluntary cooperation” initiatives from Canadian health agencies.

The Canadian pandemic plan calls for the vaccination of the entire population over a period of two months. Vaccination campaigns are targeting the workplace, schools, recreational centres and even bars and nightclubs. Community mass vaccination clinics are scheduled to inoculate millions of people in every province in Canada.

The Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC) state on their own website that International Health Regulations provide a legal framework under the World Health Organization (WHO) to protect against and control the international spread of disease such as a flu pandemic. They also state that they will establish a process that is to be followed by the WHO for determining and responding to a public health emergency of international concern.

Under the WHO charter determined in 2005, it has the authority to dissolve Canada’s government policies on emergency planning, mandatory vaccinations and to take control should there be a “pandemic”. This applies to any country signed onto the WHO.

(CHICAGO) (WLS) — A University of Chicago researcher died after being exposed to a strain of bacteria that causes plague. And Malcolm Casadaban’s family wants answers.

The Chicago Department of Public Health says there’s no sign anyone else was exposed to the bacteria.

The tragic irony is that Professor Casadaban had been trying to develop a vaccine so that thousands of people around the world wouldn’t die a painful, ugly death from a bacterial infection related to the plague. But it was that bacterium that appears to have killed him.

“We really thought he was so strong, we didn’t see this coming at all,” said Leigh Casadaban, daughter.

Not only did they not see it coming, but sisters Leigh and Brooke Casadaban say their father never knew what killed him.

“It was just so much of a shock, even the time he was in the ER, from the moment he got accepted to the time he passed away. We had no idea, we didn’t even get to say goodbye to him,” said Brooke Casadaban.

Malcom Casadaban was a professor of molecular genetics at the University of Chicago for 30 years.

For the past eight years, his daughters say, he’d been working with a strain of bacteria called yersinia pestis, trying to develop a stronger vaccine for the plague, once the world’s worst health scourge.

The Canadian Medical Association Journal reported that public health officials in British Columbia are advising doctors to assume that all flu symptoms are the results of the H1N1 virus.
The organization quotes Tofino family doctor Dr. John Armstong, who said he has treated “dozens” of people infected with the virus. The provincial public health lab in Vancouver instructed him to stop sending swabs.

“We’ve reduced our swabbing…” Armstrong said in the report. BC public health officials “more or less told us to stop taking swabs because the lab is getting swamped in Vancouver.”
Public officials have supposedly confirmed that all the swabs being submitted are positive for H1N1. Several media outlets have requested full disclosure of laboratory analysis and methods of confirmation for those individuals infected with the H1N1 virus. No official statement has been released by public officials regarding the requests.

The largest outbreak occurred in Ahousat, the principal settlement on Flores Island, which is accessible only by water or air. Ahousat is also one of the main settlements of the Ahousaht First Nations led by hereditary chief Shawn Atleo, who was recently elected national chief of the Assembly of First Nations.

But a “big community effort kept a lid on that,” as Aboriginal leaders and health officials held public meetings and urged measures to contain the spread, Armstrong said. “But now that school is starting, it’s changed again. We’re also seeing the same flu patterns in other communities.”

“Somebody has to make the clinical diagnosis in time. Who is going to make that clinical diagnosis? The problem is that flu symptoms can look an awful lot like some other things. One of them is kidney infection. You get fever, chills, aches and pains with that. Or tonsillitis, sore throat, fever, aches and pains, headaches. Those are things that you get with influenza. The danger is that you give Tamiflu to somebody when they should be treated for appendicitis, or kidney infection, and actually causes harm because you’ve deferred proper diagnosis.”

Canadian health officials, meanwhile, have provided no indication whatsoever of when a vaccine might actually be available, beyond saying it “might” be available in mid-November. The Public Health Agency of Canada did, however, announce yesterday that pregnant women, health workers, residents of remote area and adults with chronic conditions will be given “priority” access to a vaccine when it becomes available.
